Alternative Investments

Alternative Investments

Alternative investments provide access to strategies and asset classes that extend beyond traditional public equities and fixed income securities. At CE Global Private Equity Limited, our alternative investment offering is designed to broaden portfolio opportunities by providing exposure to specialist markets, differentiated return drivers and investment strategies that may behave differently from conventional asset classes.

Depending on the objectives and mandate of the relevant product, alternative investments may include exposure to private markets, infrastructure, commodities, specialist credit, absolute-return strategies and other non-traditional opportunities. Our approach focuses on understanding the underlying sources of return, the specific risks involved and the role each investment may play within a wider portfolio.

Our Alternative Investment Approach

CE Global Private Equity evaluates alternative investment opportunities using a combination of fundamental analysis, structural assessment and detailed due diligence. Because alternative investments can vary significantly in complexity, liquidity and risk, each opportunity is considered on its own merits and within the objectives of the relevant strategy.

Our investment process may consider factors including:

  • Return Drivers— Identification of the economic, operational or market factors expected to generate returns and assessment of whether those drivers are sustainable.
  • Diversification Potential— Consideration of how an investment may behave relative to traditional equity and fixed income markets and the role it may play within a broader portfolio.
  • Liquidity— Assessment of investment time horizons, redemption terms, secondary-market availability and the ability to realise capital when required.
  • Structure & Transparency— Review of investment structures, counterparties, ownership arrangements, fees, governance and the transparency of underlying assets and strategies.
  • Valuation— Evaluation of pricing methodology, underlying asset values, market comparables and the assumptions supporting the investment case.
  • Risk Management— Identification of market, credit, operational, liquidity, leverage, counterparty, regulatory and other risks associated with the investment.

Alternative investments can offer access to differentiated sources of potential return, but they may also involve greater complexity, limited liquidity and risks that are not always present in traditional investments. Our approach therefore places particular emphasis on understanding the structure and underlying economics of each opportunity before capital is committed.

Beyond Traditional Markets

Alternative investments can provide exposure to economic opportunities that are not fully represented within traditional public markets. In some cases, their returns may be influenced by different factors from listed equities or conventional bonds, creating the potential for additional portfolio diversification.

Strategies may focus on long-term asset appreciation, contractual or asset-backed income, market inefficiencies, specialist sectors or opportunities arising from changes in technology, infrastructure, regulation and global economic activity. The characteristics of each strategy can differ substantially, making careful investment selection particularly important.

Portfolio exposure is reviewed as market conditions, valuations and investment fundamentals evolve, with the objective of maintaining an appropriate balance between opportunity, diversification, liquidity and risk.

Diversification Through Alternative Strategies

Depending on the mandate of the relevant product, alternative investment portfolios may include exposure to private assets, specialist lending, infrastructure, commodities, real assets and other differentiated investment strategies.

Combining alternative investments with traditional asset classes can broaden the sources of risk and potential return within a portfolio. Diversification does not eliminate investment risk, however, and some alternative investments can be less liquid, more complex and more difficult to value than publicly traded securities.

CE Global Private Equity's international perspective enables us to evaluate opportunities across a wide range of markets and investment structures while maintaining a disciplined focus on transparency, valuation, underlying fundamentals and risk.
