Welcome to the Investment Performance Case Study of Reddit, which follows our clients' journeys of investing in Reddit between 21st Mar, 2024 and 21st Mar, 2024, during which the recorded share price produced a gain of 7%.
Reddit is a social media platform and online community where registered users submit content, such as text, images, links, and videos, to a vast network of interest-based forums called "subreddits." Founded in 2005 by Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian, Reddit has grown into one of the most visited websites globally, known for its diverse range of discussions on nearly every topic imaginable - from news and entertainment to science, technology, hobbies, and niche communities. Each subreddit is moderated by volunteers and has its own rules and culture, enabling tailored and often highly engaged discussions. Reddit's signature upvote/downvote system allows users to influence what content rises to prominence. With its blend of anonymity, crowd-sourced moderation, and democratic content curation, Reddit is both a powerful tool for information discovery and a unique window into internet culture. As of today, Reddit continues to be a major hub for community-driven content and real-time conversation.

Reddit operates one of the world's largest community-based social platforms, organised around thousands of topic-specific communities and extensive user-generated discussion. Its long-anticipated transition into a publicly traded company attracted significant attention from both institutional and retail investors.
Reddit began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the RDDT ticker on 21 March 2024. For this case study, the recorded entry value is $47.00, representing the public-market opening level rather than Reddit's $34.00 institutional IPO offer price.
The study records an outcome price of $50.44 on the company's first trading day. Against the $47.00 study entry value, this represents an increase of approximately 7.3%, capturing the immediate public-market performance following Reddit's debut.
