Welcome to the Investment Performance Case Study of Tokyo Metro Co., which follows our clients' journeys of investing in Tokyo Metro Co. between 23rd Oct, 2024 and 18th Feb, 2025, during which the recorded share price produced a gain of 77%.
Tokyo Metro is Japan's largest subway operator, serving central Tokyo with 9 major lines. Formerly government-owned, the IPO was part of a broader privatization push to fund reconstruction in Fukushima. It's known for punctual service, modern infrastructure, and deep integration with Tokyo's public transport network.

Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. operates one of the principal urban railway networks serving the Tokyo metropolitan area. Its transition to the public markets represented a significant Japanese privatisation and provided investors with exposure to a major transport infrastructure operator at the centre of one of the world's largest metropolitan economies.
Tokyo Metro listed on the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange on 23 October 2024. The offering was priced at ¥1,200 per share, establishing the starting point used for this case study.
The study records an outcome value of approximately ¥2,118 per share by 18 February 2025. Compared with the ¥1,200 entry price, this represents an increase of approximately 76.5% over the study period and reflects the positive market response following Tokyo Metro's transition into public ownership.
